Brady and Putin, the Same, Yet Different. No, The Same.
So, Tom Brady, after retiring two months ago, is still playing football. Russia, after getting hit by fierce resistance both militarily and economically is still invading Ukraine. And women, for the last 15 years or so, still earn 84% of what a man earns.
You know why Tom Brady didn’t stay retired?
Because he didn’t want to quit in the first place!
Oh sure, for a moment he might have. He looked around at his wife and kids and said to the world, “I have spent the last 6 months focused on football, when I have this wonderful wife and great kids. I love them. I need to spend more time focused on them.”
“Also,” he said to himself, “I didn’t get to the Super Bowl.
Then two months later he was like, “Dang. That was a lot of focusing….And I didn’t get to the Super Bowl.”
And that’s when he decided to play football again.
Yes, I know you people want to imagine Brady, over the past few weeks, distracted, yet attentive to his loving wife, wistful, yet cheerful to his perfect children.
And then, one evening, over wine and a candlelight dinner, his beautiful, understanding, empathetic wife says something like (Brazilian accent), “darling, do you think you have one more year of football left in you? Because the children and I really love it when you spend all your time away and ban us from the tv room while you and Gronk watch film. Oh and I so wish Antonio was still hanging out with us here. How delightful a fellow.”
Yeah, she didn’t say any of that.
And in keeping on theme here, you may be surprised to learn Gisele no longer makes more money than Tom. For the first several years of their marriage, she certainly did. But Brady, now through endorsements and a 30-million-dollar football salary, actually makes more than his wife.
And so, the world is “right” again. And the woman is subservient to the male.
If the tables had been turned, do you think Gisele, like Tom, would have regretted her decision to retire?
I don’t think so. And while I’m not going to patronize or even stereotype all women into this scenario, don’t most of us believe, overall, the woman would genuinely want to be with her family, while the man, really just wants to visit from time to time?
I’m sorry that’s just the deal with most men. They hit 16 years of age, and they never want to change. I mean they get better beards, and bigger bellies, but basically, they are exactly the same as they were at the pinnacle of youth.
Brady is no different. He’s just richer.
Do you think if Russia had a woman in power, instead of a 69-year-old teenager, they’d be stuck in what could very possibly be a 5–10 year losing effort in Ukraine?
While Brady is saying, “Just one more Super Bowl,” Putin is saying, “Just one more yictory for Mother Russia!”
(Just so you know, that first Y in victory was intentional. That was my Russian accent.)
Honestly, don’t you think Gisele should have retired Brady a few years back?
Women should do that more often. But they don’t. Because their brains actually mature. Men do not change. We simply do not. That is our superpower.
As a man, I can run into a pal from high school, who I may not have seen in 40 years and within a minute we’re deep into the last conversation we had, sports, cars and women.
If I run into a woman I knew in high school, she’s like a different person! She knows stuff. She’s like as smart as my mom!
And you know it would behoove us if we all of us, not just women, heeded this warning. If men don’t change, then why do we expect men’s decision about football to change? Or war to change?
Let’s face it, we need to dump more men from leadership positions and bring in more women. Also, paying them the same, (or better) would be good too.
