I dated a mixed person once, even though I didn't really know her father was black until she told me. Actually I don't think I knew she was mixed until she used that term. When she said it I was taken aback because I mistakenly thought that mixed was a perjorative. And there's the problem. There are so many things we as white people don't know, and most of us don't try to know. I can see where dating interacially could be a major pain for a black woman. Mainly just dealing with our ignorance. It's like another level of the male/female disconnect. Personally my only regret is any injury I might have caused. I think I'd want to do better if there were to be a next time. And finally, I certainly enjoy a world where all colors mix socially as equals, even if that world is mostly in my mind.
